In 2022, Josh Turek ran for and won a seat in the Iowa house. In this spot, he demonstrates his stance on public education as well as his athletic ability. I edited this piece, handling everything from basic color correction to music selection.
This web series has been running on Open Television (the renowned Chicago streaming service that focuses on marginalized stories) since it’s inception. This experimental series “offers... spell casting” from each of its guests, and you can get a taste of that in this trailer for season 2.
We live in a time where political candidates openly support election fraud conspiracy theories. Progress Pinellas reached out to HardPin Media to create an ad that would alert Florida voters to the realities of Congressional candidate Anna Paulina Luna’s beliefs and political stances. Taking the note that we wanted to communicate “credibility” from the ad’s point of view, I designed these newspaper-inspired text-on-screen graphics that would evoke the integrity of the printed word.
There’s nothing quite like an intimate chat, one where you get to bare it all. This kinetic Chicago-based talk show offers just that, with conversations with drag queens and burlesque performers that cover everything from sex toy sales to the essential question, “How do you feel about fucking your friends?”
Rural farmers have a lot to contend with; not just the vicissitudes of the climate, but of the political landscape as well. This forthcoming short documentary that I shot examines the effects of a national revolution on the all-woman farming cooperative Gloria Quintanilla and its surrounding community.
Non-profits need to communicate their programs to donors in a way that demonstrate the value of their programs and, by extension, the impact of donor funds. ThreeWalls, a non-profit that fosters contemporary art practices that respond to lived experiences, commissioned me to create a video that would do just that. What resulted is a 10-minute video that was presented during a virtual event, which showcased the progress of the previous year’s fellowships. You can watch a 2-minute excerpt of that video here.
Before its theatrical run, the documentary Represent (Kartemquin Films) wanted to post social content that would promote the same message as the movie: get women to run for local office. This spot incorporates motion graphics, music and succinct editing to show viewers that running is definitely woman’s work.
Remember in-person events? Ones that present you with art you simply can’t stream from your couch? Shootin’ the Shit was an event series that featured the work of marginalized filmmakers, accompanied by an audience Q&A after. I cut together this smash up on an event held at Chicago Farm. I also got to flex my public speaking muscles as the moderator for this series.
